TFIOS screening at 20th Century Fox Lot

John Green and Josh Boone shared pictures of the screening at the 20th Century Fox lot. This may have been a very important screening with Fox executives.
Typically, film screenings on studio lots are crucial in the filmmaking process. As a film studio, 20th Century Fox, has the ability to change aspects of a film (anything that they don't approve of for marketing or otherwise reasons). Keep in mind that the relationship between film producers and the studio all depends on the contracts involved with the various creative heads working on the film.
From John's overt enthusiasm to the immensely positive reactions at the test screenings, it's fair to say that we, as fans, do not have anything to worry about. Studio lot screenings are a fun and exciting time for all those involved with the film. Judging from Ansel's livestream yesterday, the studio executives are loving what they're seeing. Through their tears, of course.

Check out the pictures below.

John wrote: "Just saw #tfiosmovie again. EVEN BETTER THAN THE FIRST TIME."

Josh Boone went on tumblr and shared this picture and wrote:
"Screened TFIOS today on the Fox lot. John Green was present. Feels were felt."

Ansel & Shailene talk Divergent, TFIOS and more with US Weekly

In the US Weekly's Divergent Special from February 28th, there's an interview with Ansel Elgort talking TFIOS, turn-ons/turn-offs and more.

You can read the full interview when you click on the scan, but for now, here are the parts where he talks about TFIOS:

In TFIOS (out on June 6), you and Shailene play two teen cancer patients who fall in love. But right before that...
We were playing brother and sister in Divergent. Yeah, I know. [Laughs.] That's the beauty of acting! It's not like when we were filming TFIOS, she had her Dauntless outfit on. I didnt think, Hey, you're Beatrice!

When did you find out you'd be playing Shailene's love interest?
Midway through Divergent. I was like, "Word, I'm going to work with you again!" But it was kind of weird.

Why is that?
I think Shailene initially didn't want to get too close to me before I auditioned for TFIOS. It'd create an unlevel playing field. But then after my screen test, she fought for me. She thought I did the best! And it helped, because then we knew we'd be hanging for a while.

And by hanging, you mean...
Hanging out at her apartment, letting her do her thing. She'd cook some weird, cool food, and I'd play her my music and give her some of my songs.

Speaking of, it seems you've had onscreen love affairs with all your costars! First, with Miles Teller in last year's The Spectacular Now - and now with Ansel Elgort in this summer's The Fault in Our Stars.
Every person is so different, you can't compare them. Miles is my rock, my buddy. We'd tease each other: He'd say "Shai, you have tabbouleh breath!" And I'd be like, "You have Gatorade breath!" And because Ansel and I were about to do The Fault in Our Stars, we felt comfortable on the Divergent set.

Thanks DivergentsUK for the HQ scans!

John's LA Times Interview on the TFIOS Set

While on the TFIOS set, John Green talked with the LA Times about all things The Fault in Our Stars.

Photo credit: The LA Times, James Bridges, 20th Century Fox

You can read the whole interview with the LA Times writer, Nicole Sperling, here at the source.

Here are some of our favorite parts of the piece:

There was originally a drastically different ending to the TFIOS book, involving "a road trip to Mexico and a battle with narco-terrorists."

TFIOS producer, Wyck Godfrey on John:
"I think he has a real drive as not only an author but as a businessman and as a brand manager. He understands now that he's in a position to influence culture and he's going to use every avenue he can take to do that. It's not only smart as a businessman, but it's admirable in that the message he's putting out there is so positive."

John on Hazel and Esther:
"Hazel and Esther are very different people, but I could never have written Hazel had I never been friends with Esther. My friendship with Esther taught me two things: how empathetic and outwardly focused teenagers can be, and that Esther's life was still a good life and she was glad to have lived it."

John's enthusiastic reaction to Michael H. Weber and Scott Neustadter's TFIOS script:
"When I saw their draft, I liked the ending better than I liked the ending of my book. That was a good feeling — and a little bit annoying."

John's thoughts about being on set:
"I felt like being here was helpful, and they felt that way too. I realized on the second day that it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime thing."

Shailene on John's presence on set:
"It definitely made a difference having him here. Everyone kept talking about him coming back when he was gone."

Be sure to check out the rest of the interview here at The LA Times.

John Green hosts TFIOS Hangout livestream

On Thursday evening, John partnered up with 20th Century Fox and hosted a livestream on YouTube. He answer questions fan sent in with the hashtag #TFIOSHangout. These were some of the highlights:

John’s cameo: Although many wanted to see John act in the TFIOS, his cameo got cut from the movie, probably due to timing issues. John said that he felt truly delighted and relieved his part got cut. “I don’t want to be an actor,” he said. However, he felt bad about that the little girl, who played his daughter on screen, would be cut out too.

TFIOS trailer: John said that he never expected the response the trailer has gotten. He thinks that it is bananas the trailer has more than 10 million views and almost 200,000 likes. “Only movies like Iron Man get a lot of (trailer) views,” he said. He also told viewers that he was really nervous the day the trailer was released. However, was so happy of the response of viewers and fans. The trailer reaction videos fans created and posted made him cry because it showed him how much people care about this story.

Hardest scene and favorite chapter: A fan asked John what was the hardest part of the book to write. He responded that there weren’t many easy parts to write. It got really hard toward the end. However, when he looked through the book, he said it was the scene when Gus was at a Speedway gas station late at night. He said it was amazing to see that scene being filmed. His favorite chapter in TFIOS is chapter 20 (SPOILER: It is the pre-funeral chapter).

No sequel or AIA: John sadly said there would be no TFIOS sequel, or from Gus’s point of view. Also he would never try to attempt to write An Imperial Affliction. I guess that’s why fan fiction exists?

TFIOS isn’t just a story about sick people: When a fan asked John how he would convince a non-TFIOS reader to read the book or watch the movie, John didn’t know what to answer. He said that even though TFIOS is a sad story, it is not just that. TFIOS is meant to show that people who are sick are very much alive and active. John said that disease is not something that should be minimized to other kinds of struggle and he wanted to write about that. The point of writing this book was to make three funny kids that are living a rich, full life, but who have disease as an obstacle.

Nerdfighter gets her final wish

Maggie and her family.
On Saturday, Maggie Philbrook, a nerdfighter fighting cancer, passed away. However, she did not die before receiving her ultimate wish: to see The Fault In Our Stars movie.

Movie director, Josh Boone, announced on Sunday that Maggie had been one of the first people to see the movie. The Make-A-Wish foundation and 20th Century Fox were able to accommodate Maggie and four of her closest friends to view the movie in a hospital conference room. After the movie, Maggie talked with Josh, via video-chat, and let him know she enjoyed it.

However, a few moments later her health worsened. Maggie died just before 5 a.m. on Saturday.
It makes us happy that her final wish was able to come true.

We wish her family and friends the best and strength during this difficult time.

Rest in awesome, Maggie. DFTBA.
